Author Guidelines

The editorial board of the journal accepts for consideration articles and other materials of scientific, popular science, practical nature, results of achievements of fundamental and theoretical-applied research on current aspects of the theory and methodology of librarianship, philology, history and art history, as well as reflecting the best practices of libraries of the Republic of Belarus and abroad.

The journal accepts works that are completed independently, distinguished by the novelty of the scientific results presented in them, having practical application, and designed in compliance with the established requirements.

The editorial board in agreement with the Editorial Board determines the priority of the order of publication of materials.

Article materials are submitted on paper (in 2 copies) and on electronic media or sent by e-mail to zam_glavred@nlb.by with the note "Bibliyatechny svet/Bibliotechnyy mir".

Works that are designed in violation of the requirements and do not meet the scientific level will not be accepted for publication. The materials provided will not be returned to the authors. Articles are published in the journal free of charge. No royalties are paid.

MAIN REQUIREMENTS TO THE CONTENT AND DESIGN OF SCIENTIFIC ARTICLES

  1. The article structurally comprises the following elements:

– Universal Decimal Classification (UDC) index;

– information about the author(s) in Russian (Belarusian) and English: last name, first name, patronymic, academic degree, academic title, place of work, position, email address, contact phone numbers;

– article title in Russian (Belarusian) and English;

– annotation in Russian (Belarusian) and English should be informative, meaningful (reflect the key points of the article and the results of the study), structured (follow the logical presentation of the material) and compact (up to 10 lines – 1000–1700 characters);

– a list of keywords/phrases (5–10) in Russian (Belarusian) and English that should reflect the main content of the article and not duplicate the terms of the title and abstract. It is recommended to include terms that are used in the article itself and relate to the subject area of the study;

– an introduction that provides a brief overview of the literature, indicates previously unresolved issues, the relevance and purpose of the work;

– the main part that presents the content of the research conducted, the actual results, and the proposals developed;

– the conclusion should consist of clearly formulated findings;

– bibliographic footnotes are placed at the end of the text as a list of references, numbered in the order of citation and formatted in accordance with the requirements of the Higher Attestation Commission of the Republic of Belarus. The list of references includes only those sources that are referenced in the text;

– References – a list of references, duplicated in the Latin alphabet, with the number of sources in the list and in References matching.

  1. The text must contain the serial number of the cited source in square brackets, followed by the page number, separated by a comma (examples: [2, p. 135] if there is one source; [4, p. 98; 6, p. 157] if there are several sources).
  2. The scientific article must be formatted according to the following requirements:

– article size – at least 14,000 characters with spaces, but no more than 24,000 characters with spaces;

– line spacing – single;

– text editor MS Word (docx) or PDF (with text layer);

– Times New Roman font;

– 14 pt font size;

– margin sizes: top – 2 cm, right – 1 cm, left – 1 cm, bottom – 1 cm;

– paragraph indentation – 1.25 cm;

– the title of the article in Russian (Belarusian) and English in capital letters, centered;

– justified alignment;

– all pages must be numbered;

– working languages – Belarusian, Russian;

– all illustrations, graphs, tables are located in the appropriate places in the text, and not at the end of the document; tables must have subheadings, illustrations – captions under them. Each figure is additionally provided in electronic form in a separate file in jpeg, gif, bmp, png format, high resolution from 300 dpi.

  1. The following documents are attached to the manuscript:

– an application form in Russian (Belarusian) and English, which includes: the author's (authors') full last name, first name, patronymic; the author's place of work and (or) study (full name of the organization, address), position, academic degree and rank (if any); title of the scientific article; contact phone numbers (indicating the code) and the author's e-mail address;

– a high-quality official color photograph of the author(s);

– a review by specialists (doctor or candidate of sciences) in the relevant field. For postgraduate and master's students – an officially certified extract from the minutes of the department meeting (other structure) on the recommendation of the article for publication or a handwritten signature made by the academic supervisor under the text: “The text of the article has been agreed upon with the academic supervisor and recommended for publication in a scientific journal.”

  1. 5. Articles are checked in the Antiplagiat system. The permissible percentage of uniqueness is set at no 70 percent.

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The manuscripts are accepted if has not been published or submitted for publication elsewhere.

  2. The materials should be prepared in a format OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF, or World Perfect.

  3. Internet links are provided as a complete URL. 

  4. Text should be typed with an interval of one and a half line spacing, font Times New Roman, 14 pt; to highlight the accents it is recommended to use italics rather than underlining (except Internet links). All images, graphics and tables are placed within the text according to the meaning of the particular part of text  (and not at the end of the document).

  5. Text should follow the stylistic and bibliography requirements as stated in  Regulations  located in the Part "About Us." 

  6. Please, remove the authors' names from the title of the article and other parts of the document to ensure the  anonymity of reviewing.

Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:

  1. Authors retain copyright and grant the journal right of first publication with the work simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in this journal.
  2. Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the journal's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in this journal.
  3. Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (See The Effect of Open Access).

 

Privacy Statement

Specified when registering the names and addresses will be used solely for technical purposes of a contact with the Author or reviewers (editors) when preparing the article for publication. Private data will not be shared with other individuals and organizations.
